Small business firm expresses optimism about efforts to build a clean energy economy

Statement from Small Business for America’s Future network member April Williams, owner of Kennedy Consulting Group LLC in Silver Spring, on Vice President’s visit to Baltimore

Baltimore, July 14, 2023– I was pleased to hear Vice President Kamala Harris talk about the historic investment in climate change included in the Inflation Reduction Act. It is a step toward addressing one of the biggest crises of our time while providing a major boost to small businesses.

The benefits of this law will help continue the current upward trajectory of our economy as inflation begins to cool and small businesses continue to rebound from the pandemic. These investments present new opportunities to create jobs in the growing clean energy sector and provide aid through tax tax credits to help us transition to clean energy.

The law also addresses high prescription drug costs, an issue that continues to be a concern for small business owners. Cost saving measures in the Inflation Reduction Act have led to lower prices on dozens of prescription drugs. Progress that is not only essential for the financial well-being of small businesses, but also for the health and welfare of owners and employees.

We continue to urge lawmakers to recognize the benefits of this law for small businesses and avoid legislation that would hamper these investments that bolster Main Street.
