Small business group hopeful recent action by Biden Administration will ease the rising cost of healthcare a top concern of  Main Street entrepreneurs

Statement by Small Business for America’s Future Senior Advisor Rhett Buttle on Biden Administration’s healthcare announcement

Washington D.C. December 7, 2023– “We welcome the new actions the Biden Administration is taking to help address a persistent concern for small business owners–the rising cost of healthcare.

“Healthcare costs are stifling growth for small business owners, cutting into their bottom lines and often forcing them to put new hiring on hold or increase prices on goods and services. Healthcare should not be a barrier to growth but a benefit that helps hard working entrepreneurs who care deeply about their employees’ well being and the financial health of their business.

“We are encouraged by the Biden Administration's focus on investigating anti-competitive practices, an issue that the small business owners in our network are seeing in their communities. This year, a Small Business for America’s Future survey found they believe increased consolidation leads to less choice, longer wait times, and fewer services—in addition to driving up healthcare costs overall.

“This year our economy has shown signs of resilience with a solid jobs market and the cooling of inflation. We can continue to bolster conditions by creating an economic environment that supports innovation and growth by continuing to address healthcare costs. As we enter a new year, we hope that Congress will follow the White House’s lead and make it a top priority.”
