Small Business Group: Trump Administration’s Transition Authorization, Though Delayed Unnecessarily, is Good for Small Business and the Economy

Statement by Rhett Buttle, Senior Advisor to Small Business for America’s Future

Washington, D.C., Nov. 23, 2020—We’re glad to see President Trump today acknowledge the reality that he lost the election by directing General Services Administrator Emily Murphy to give President-elect Biden the crucial resources his administration needs for a successful transition. This is a win for democracy, our economy, and small businesses, which need stability and leadership to survive the Covid-19 pandemic.

survey of more 1,000 small business owners in Small Business for America’s Future’s network released on Friday found that 73% of those small business owners believe President Trump should be actively participating in a peaceful transition of power, 62% think the GSA Administrator should give the Biden transition team access to resources and 61% believe believe failing to take those steps would harm America’s economy and national security.

Small businesses are struggling and the best thing we can do to help is bring to an end the political theater around an election that was won decisively and fairly. Small business owners don’t need further uncertainty and instability. Small businesses need the Biden Administration to have access to all the resources it needs to be ready on Day One to help our economy survive this once-in-a-generation crisis.
