Small Business Leaders Launch Ad Targeting Key States to Urge Action on Covid-19

Small Business for America’s Future launches ad and makes Facebook ad buy in key states to make the case that the Administration’s lack of a national plan to contain Covid-19 and the bungling of aid packages continue to hurt small businesses and weaken our economic recovery

Washington, D.C., Oct. 13, 2020—Small Business for America’s Future, a national coalition of small business owners and leaders working to provide small businesses a voice at every level of government, today announced a social media ad buy targeting key states to show that small businesses are in crisis,  the Trump Administration is failing to help and to urge lawmakers to focus on economic recovery.

The ad running this month will target adults and small business owners in Arizona, Nevada Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Iowa, Maine, Michigan, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Texas and Wisconsin.

“It’s been seven months since President Trump declared a national emergency due to the Covid-19 pandemic and Main Street small businesses are stretched to their financial limits,” said Shaundell Newsome, Small Business for America’s Future Co-chair who lives in Nevada where the ads will run.

“Instead of working on this crisis, the Senate is rushing through a Supreme Court nomination. The consequences of this decision could be catastrophic. In a recent Small Business for America’s Future survey, more than a third of the small businesses said they won’t be able to make it past the end of the year without relief. Our leaders need to get their priorities straight and help small businesses now or our Main Streets may become ghost towns.”

Small Business for America’s Future has been taking the fight for small business to Washington since the beginning of the Covid-19 crisis, asking lawmakers to pass relief plans that prioritize the survival of Main Street businesses through grants, automatic forgiveness of Paycheck Protection Program loans of less than $150,000, enhanced unemployment benefits for the unemployed, additional economic aid to small businesses, and a national plan to contain the virus so business can operate safely.

An October national survey of 1,500 small business owners by Small Business for America’s Future finds Main Street entrepreneurs continue to be hit hard by the pandemic and 66% of small business owners say passing an economic relief package is more important to the future of the country than approving a Supreme Court nominee.

The survey also found small business owners are highly engaged in the upcoming presidential election, with 98% planning to vote.
