STATEMENT: New Tech Hubs will help spur innovation and economic growth that will help Main Street businesses thrive

Statement by Small Business for America’s Future Co-chair Anne Zimmerman, Founder & Owner, Zimmerman & Co CPAs Inc.

Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2023– “I am encouraged to hear about the designation of 31 Tech Hubs across the country that will help promote innovation and bolster our economy for years to come.

“This is a result of the CHIPS and Science Act, bipartisan legislation that breathed new life into the semiconductor industry while also advancing other critical industries like clean energy and artificial intelligence through grants to the Tech Hubs that will invest in job creation.  Many small businesses are involved in the supply chain for these industries or provide other supportive services and will benefit from the ripple effect sparked by this policy.

“After a decades-long decline, entrepreneurship is making a comeback. If trends continue this
year’s total could be just shy of 2021’s record amount. These businesses will need more opportunities through forward-thinking strategies like the Tech Hubs to survive.

“This is something we would like lawmakers to keep in mind as we approach another budget deadline. Once leadership is in place, we urge lawmakers to act swiftly on a spending plan that supports small businesses and helps maintain this entrepreneurial momentum.”
