President’s visit to MN highlight investments that are a boon for small businesses

President Joe Biden’s visit to Minnesota showed how smart investments are rebuilding infrastructure, stimulating American manufacturing, and providing economic opportunities for small businesses across the country

April 3, 2023—Today, President Joe Biden visited the Cummins Power Generation Facility in Fridley, Minnesota, to highlight the administration's “Investing in America” agenda and its positive impact on the economy. The visit showcased how the Inflation Reduction Act, the CHIPS and Science Act, the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, and the American Rescue Plan are rebuilding infrastructure, fixing supply chains, stimulating American manufacturing, and providing economic opportunities for small businesses across the country.

Cummins announced $1 billion in investments across their U.S. engine manufacturing networks during the visit. Such investments help small businesses, as they provide small business owners with new partnering opportunities and will help to improve supply chains and reduce costs.

“As a small business owner in Minnesota, I'm encouraged to see private companies investing over $2 billion during the current administration. This type of investment not only helps to create jobs but also boosts consumer spending in our local economy. I believe this will have a ripple effect that will benefit businesses on Main Street and the entire community. It's a promising sign for our future and I'm looking forward to seeing the positive impact of these investments in the years to come,”  said Indred Alexander, owner of Indred Alexander Insurance Agency, LLC., in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

The legislation enjoyed strong
support from small business owners—The Bipartisan Infrastructure Law earned the support of 88% of small business owners responding to Small Business For America’s Future surveys—because of the opportunities it creates.

“It’s great to see private companies invest billions of dollars in our country. This type of investment not only helps create jobs but it also boosts consumer spending in local economies. This will have a ripple effect that benefits businesses on Main Street for the years to come,” said Rhett Buttle, Senior Advisor to Small Business for America’s Future. “These investments will continue to create new opportunities for growth and success for small businesses across the country.”

The legislation is expected to create a boom in federal contracting opportunities as it is implemented that will benefit small businesses. For example, the U.S. Department of Transportation will award more than $37 billion in federal contracts to small disadvantaged business contractors.
