Small Business for America’s Future Network Member Featured During Democratic National Convention

Scott Richardson, owner of Occasionally Yours in Swarthmore, PA, discussed the impact of Covid-19 on small businesses like his on Day One of convention

Washington, D.C., Aug. 18, 2020—Small Business for America’s Future Network member Scott Richardson, owner of Occasionally Yours in Swarthmore, PA was featured during Day One of the Democratic National Convention alongside Sen. Bernie Sanders and former First Lady Michelle Obama.

Helping kick-off the convention, Richardson spoke with host Eva Longoria about his experience as the owner of a restaurant and catering company during the Covid-19 pandemic, expressing the hardship and frustration felt by small business owners across the country.

“We have literally had to reinvent our business several times since the beginning of the year just to stay afloat,” he told Longoria. “And our revenue, for example, is off 40%. We have half of the employees that we had pre-Covid. Our customers are a little scared. Our employees are sometimes afraid to come to work because of Covid. And to be honest with you, I am just frustrated. I do not understand how we got here.”

Entrepreneurs in Small Business for America’s Future small business network like Richardson are active in advocating for policies to help Main Street businesses survive the pandemic by sharing their stories and experiences with the media and policymakers.
